I just discovered Sharon von Etten this winter. I had put on a For You playlist from iTunes and this song started while I was out in the cold and dark walking the dogs.
As I write these, I find myself wanting to name check all of the echoes I hear in new songs from older artists. With Sharon, it’s Siouxsie, Eurythmics, Human League, Cocteau Twins, Portishead, Goldfrapp and Dot Allison – to name a few.
This song is so beautiful and longing. And not really sad just full of drama and intensity.
