This is an all time favorite of mine. I remember sitting alone in the dark on our couch in Dallas. It was probably 1997 and I was watching MTV 120 Minutes.
By 1997 I had been struggling with addiction for nearly 10 years. 5 years on a methadone program. Ultimately it would take me almost 13 years to get clean.
I had pretty much given up on buying music because our CD player was always in the pawn shop.
I had never heard of DJ Shadow. As soon as I saw the video, I remembered his name and started making a list of music I wanted to hear.
Within the next year we started buying music again and this was one of the very first ones I bought. Hearing this song helped rekindle my energy and love for music.
