Resist much obey little

The Brian Jonestown Massacre is one of my favorite bands of the last 25 years. I remember going to see them on a cold winter night back in 2004 with Aubrey at the Way Out Club near our home in Benton Park.

The Way Out Club was a pretty cool place – I heard it been a mobster bar in the past – all the local bohos and other miscasts like us would go them from time to time.

Anyway they did a great show topped by a 30 minute long ending song. Honestly, the rhythm section probably played exactly the same thing for the whole time with Anton Newcombe distorting his guitar and churning out drone like feedback.

Near the end of the song he literally fell of the stage and onto the floor with the crowd.

Glad he is still with us and making music like this. Wasn’t sure he would make it.

I'm a lifelong music lover living in Boston with my husband, son and mother in law. Music has always played a big part in my life and I would like to share some stories and thoughts about songs that I love.

  1. Walt Whitman’s Caution

    TO The States, or any one of them, or any city of The States, Resist much, obey little;
    Once unquestioning obedience, once fully enslaved;
    Once fully enslaved, no nation, state, city, of this earth, ever afterward resumes its liberty.
