On the beach

When I first met Aubrey, he had a cassette tape of this record. He was a big Neil Young fan and this record was hard to find/out of print.

I remember us listening to the tape many times in various high states. Crashing on speed or cocaine, drinking, high on heroin. Sometimes a combination of all these things.

Im pretty sure we still have that tape – I will check tomorrow and post a picture as a comment if I can find it.

This is a beautiful, sad song. The band plays the song with such epic sadness and loping grace.

It fit the life we were leading.
We were alive in many serious ways but struggling at the same time.

Not exactly sure if we would make it out alive.

There are some amazing, simple lines in the lyrics.

“The world is turning. I hope it dont turn away. All my pictures are fallin’ From the wall where I placed them yesterday”

“Though my problems are meaningless that dont make them go away“

I'm a lifelong music lover living in Boston with my husband, son and mother in law. Music has always played a big part in my life and I would like to share some stories and thoughts about songs that I love.

  1. The world is turnin’
I hope it don’t turn away
    The world is turnin’
I hope it don’t turn away
    All my pictures are fallin’
From the wall where I placed them yesterday
    The world is turnin’
I hope it don’t turn away

    [Verse 2]
I need a crowd of people
    But I can’t face them day-to-day
I need a crowd of people
    But I can’t face ’em day-to-day
    Though my problems are meaningless
That don’t make them go away
I need a crowd of people
    But I can’t face them day-to-day

    [Verse 3]
I went to the radio interview
But I ended up alone at the microphone
I went to the radio interview
But I ended up alone at the microphone
Now I’m livin’ out here on the beach
But those seagulls are still out of reach
    Went to the radio interview
But I ended up alone at the microphone
